I was involved in publication work – editing and writing articles for Newsette, and editing other university publications even while teaching language and literature classes.

Naga City Tour, part of the NSSPC (National Secondary Schools Press Conference) activities.  Marilyn Arayata (standing, 2nd from left) with student participants and other school paper advisers from Cavite.

Marilyn C. Arayata is the author of “Hope Boosters for Fired up Souls”. As an inspirational speaker, she has given seminars to students, teachers, SK officers, Junior Jaycees, and guidance counsellors. She writes a column, “Inspire and Equip!” for “Tempo”(published by the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp.).

She spent many years in the academe as an English teacher: served as faculty member and school paper adviser (St. Francis School, Gen. Trias, Cavite); worked as faculty member of St. Paul College of Paranaque; and for nine years, faculty member of De La Salle University-Dasmarinas (DLSU-D) where she also served as special projects coordinator and publications coordinator of the Institutional Communication Office.

She had a stint as book editor until she decided to focus on writing. Among her edited works is Kathleen Bautista’s “Healing and Happiness for Wounded Children”, a book for children (and adults) who come from broken homes.

She has also given seminars on campus journalism and public speaking.
